On Saturday, February 13, 2027, IPMS Antwerp will be organizing the Flanders’ Modelling Festival 2027 at our new venue at Kinepolis Antwerp. This impressive and exclusive space offers us far more possibilities than our previous location.

This is the longest-running scale modeling event in Belgium. At the festival, you’ll find various club displays, sales stands offering new and second-hand model kits, accessories, and books and, of course, our competition.

Contest

The highlight of the Flanders’ Modelling Festival is, of course, the competition. Our competition has also been reviewed and revamped, with many categories now split into ‘basic’ and ‘advanced’ sections. Enter our competition! There is a substantial prize fund for the winners of the various trophies.

Entry to the competition costs €2 per model registered before 8 February 2027. On-the-day registration costs €3 per model. Payment for entry to the competition is due on the day of the competition. Every third registered model is free.

By registering for the competition, I agree to my model being photographed and to the potential use of these photos for IPMS Antwerp’s promotional purposes.

Rules

Flanders’ Modelling Festival is open to all modellers. To participate, you do not have to be a member of a modelling association.
There are three prizes to be won in each category: Winner (Gold), Highly Commended (Silver) and Commended (Bronze). These prizes can be awarded multiple times in each category, based on the number of points achieved. In addition, there are several special trophies to be won.
Anyone can enter the contest in all categories and with several models per category, but only the model with the highest score per category is eligible for a prize.
All models must be built mainly of plastic or resin, except for models in the Figurines and Ships categories.
Scratch models are all models which are largely self-built. They may be built with any material, but must consist of at least sixty percent plastic or resin.
An entered model is considered a diorama if the base plate is more than just a surface and extra attention has been paid to it by using figures, buildings, trees, extra models, ground equipment and so on.
Juniors (participants under 16) can place their models, regardless of theme or scale, in their own category or in another competition category. In the latter case, the model will not be judged as a ‘junior model’.
Models that previously participated in the Flanders’ Modelling Festival competition may not be entered again.
Each category is judged by two judges, who award points to the best five models. Judges are not allowed to participate in the contest in the category for which they are judging. The models are judged by experienced modellers.
Decisions of the contest committee cannot be contested. However, the committee and jury are open to questions and comments.
If in a category less than three models are registered, the models concerned will be added to the most similar category.
Judges have the right to move a model to another category if they feel that the model does not belong in the chosen category.
The models may only be removed from the contest tables after the prize-giving ceremony.
IPMS Antwerpen is not responsible for possible damage to models during the festival. Furthermore, the club cannot be held responsible for accidents.

Presentation model clubs

Apart from the competition, the club stands are the highlights of the Flanders’ Modelling Festival. For clubs who want to present themselves with their models, registration is of course free of charge. Clubs are allocated running metres based on availability.

Traders

The stands of sellers, both professional and private, have also been a fixture at the Flanders’ Modelling Festival for years. They can be found on the ground floors.
